School Counseling Program
The school counseling program at Agua Caliente Elementary is designed to promote a safe and positive learning environment for students. Counselors work with school educators, families, and the community to support students by providing a comprehensive program that includes education, intervention, and/or consultation. Within these services, the goal of the program is preventative in nature as it strives to reach out to the entire elementary school population. Some major components of the school counseling program include:
- Classroom lessons
- Consultations with teachers and parents
- Consultations with outside agencies
- Crisis counseling
- Individual counseling
- Schoolwide activities
- Small group support
About Me
Hi everyone! My name is Stephen Castillo and I’m the school counselor at Agua Caliente Elementary School. Currently, this is my fifth year here at AC. I received my Bachelor's in Child Development at Cal State Northridge in 2014. After graduation, I moved to Beijing, China for roughly two years to teach English and explore a new culture. Working with kids from a completely different background and seeing their growth in all aspects of development is something I cherish. It was in China that I decided to pursue my Master's in School Counseling. Upon my return, I moved to Seattle to complete my graduate program. While there, I worked as an RBT (Registered Behavior Technician) with children on the Autism Spectrum. In June of 2018, I received my Master of Education degree in School Counseling. Soon after, I accepted the position as school counselor for Agua Caliente Elementary and moved to the Palm Springs area. The kids at AC are awesome and I look forward to many more years of helping students reach their full potential. I’m truly grateful to be working with such an amazing staff as well. In my free time, I love to watch movies, practice Jiu Jitsu, and hang out with family/friends.
